Would you or someone you know like to improve their reading and English conversation skills? The Library can help.

Through our partnership with the Adult Literacy League, the Library offers help and resources to the diverse community of learners that we serve. We want to help you provide a brighter future for yourself and the community.

The Osceola Library System and the Adult Literacy League offer E.S.O.L. (English for Speakers of Other Languages), Everyday English Classes, and Adult Basic Education classes.

Citizenship Class
Every Monday Todos los Lunes
9:30 am- 10:30 am at the Hart Memorial Central Library

Learn about the process of becoming a citizen, and prepare for the U.S. Citizenship interview and exam. Study United States history and government for the examination with Vince Scalise, a favorite teacher from the Adult Literacy League who has taught Citizenship classes for 11 years.

Everyday English

Open English conversation class taught by Florida State certified teachers, experienced in teaching adult English language learners. Chances to earn prizes, with a graduation ceremony and certificates awarded based on hours attended! The American Dream Literacy Initiative, a grant offering of the American Library Association, is made possible by the Dollar General Literacy Foundation.

Esta es una clase de inglés conversacional abierta al público e impartida por maestros certificados del Estado de la Florida. 6 pm- 8 pm at the Buenaventura Lakes Library and 7 pm- 8 pm at the West Osceola Library

Become more familiar with the English language. Taught by a certified instructor in partnership with the Adult Literacy League.

E.S.O.L. Class – Intermediate
Every Monday
10:30 am- 12:30 pm at the Hart Memorial Central Library

Improve your English with reading, listening comprehension, and grammar instruction for real-life situations. Presented in partnership with the Adult Literacy League.

The Library also provides books, DVDs, and CDs for ESOL students and tutors; computer classes and other programs in Spanish and English; online databases such as MANGO LANGUAGES; and space for tutoring, classes, and meetings.

Adult Literacy League
The Adult Literacy League provides literacy and language acquisition services to adults for whom English is not a native language.
